JAKARTA - The Cengkareng Police raided an online gambling base at the City Park Cengkareng Apartment, West Jakarta, last Sunday, January 15. The results of the raid, 24 people were arrested.
"The raids were carried out based on information from the public who reported online gambling practices in several apartment units," said Cengkareng Police Chief, Kompol Ardhie Demastyo when confirmed, Monday, January 16.
The perpetrators were arrested from 7 different rooms in the City Park apartment. The raid was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police.
"Of the 7 apartment units, 24 people were arrested who acted as online gambling operators," he said.
They operate four online gambling sites using computers and laptops in each apartment unit.
"Of the 24 people who were temporarily arrested, some of them were operators because they were invited by friends who had already become online gambling operators there," he said.
A total of 24 people were arrested to the Cengkareng Police for further investigation. However, until now, the Cengkareng Police have not been able to confirm whether the online gambling site has the same network as the disclosures that have been made before or not.
"While we are still trying to find more on it (the boss). The case is still under investigation," he said.
