JAKARTA - A total of three boys were swept away in the Ciliwung River, Jakarta. However, only one child was rescued, while the other two are still being searched.

Jagakarsa police chief, Kompol Multazam explained, the incident began with two brothers, an orphanage with the initials SR (11) and BPE (8) inviting their friends to take a bath in Ciliwung River, Sunday, January 15, at 17.00 WIB.

"SF and BPE invite Witness Rafa Taufiqurahman, Raffa Rahman, Depa, Fajar and Faroh to take a bath in Ciliwung River near the Pingkal Lenyeng Agung park. They went to take a bath without the permission of the orphanage administrators," Multazam said in his statement, Monday, January 16.

Furthermore, after arriving at the banks of the river 100 meters from the orphanage, the two victims and four friends immediately threw themselves into the river. Meanwhile, one colleague, Farah, did not participate, just watched.

About 15 minutes they took a bath in that time, suddenly SR and BPE were swept away by the river currents.

"Witness Rafa helped, but witness Rafa was also swept away by a current of about 30 meters and stuck in a bamboo tree clump on the edge of the Ciliwung river," he said.

"After that, Rafa was saved by the security of Pingkal Park on behalf of Mahardi who was on duty at that time, while SR and BPE were not found," he continued.

Based on the report, Multazam led a search and rescue (SAR) operation with 50 joint personnel consisting of members of 8 Jagakarsa Police, 10 Fire Departments, 10 BPBD members, 22 Brimob members Polda Metro Jaya to look for victims.

However, the search process was stopped on Sunday night and will continue today, Monday, January 16 at around 08.00 WIB.

"According to the SAR SOP, the security situation, the search for victims will be carried out and continued Monday, January 16, 2023 at 08.00 WIB," he concluded
