Accused Of Intervention For Evading Political Parties For The 2024 General Election, Mahfud MD Gives Explanation: Should First Clarify Me

The name of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD was dragged into the alleged fraud by the General Election Commission (KPU). He was accused of intervening in passing political parties (political parties) to become participants in the 2024 General Election.

Mahfud denied the accusations made to him during a meeting with general opinion (RDPU) between Commission II of the DPR and the Civil Society Coalition after the Clean Election at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta yesterday.

"The news is that Hadar Gumai (Hadar Nafis Gumay, ed) said that in the DPR there was intervention from the Minister of Home Affairs/Menko Polhukam to the KPU to pass the political parties participating in the election. There was no such thing. It should have been checked first," Mahfud wrote via his Instagram account @mohmahfudmd, confiscated Thursday, January 12.

Mahfud explained that he had indeed communicated with the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the KPU Bernad Dermawan Sutrisno on November 10, 2022. However, communication with the election organizers was to remind that there should be no action to injure the democratic party process.

In his communication with the Secretary General of the KPU, Mahfud warned that the KPU should be professional, not receive orders from outside.

"It is not at all to ask to pass or not pass certain parties," he said.

"At that time I "rejected" so that the KPU would act professionally because there were already rumors that the KPU had orders from outside powers. Some asked certain parties to be passed and some asked certain parties to be hampered," continued Mahfud.

After the KPU's discussion was acting unprofessionally, Mahfud admitted that he met with KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari at the launch of an Election TV.

"I told Pak Hasyim that there was an issue that the KPU was not professional and I called the Secretary General of the KPU so that the rules were enforced fairly. That's what I did, namely, reminding the KPU to be professional. No more than that and that can be asked to the Chairman and Secretary General of the KPU," he said.

Mahfud confirmed that what he explained was based on facts and data.

He admitted that he still kept his communication and SMS conversations with the Secretary General of the KPU on November 10, 2022. Because after establishing the communication, Mahfud said, the Secretary General of the KPU sent him the verification data.

"Mas Hadar should have clarified it to me first. Don't let anyone provide heretical information and then use it as public consumption without confirmation," said Mahfud.
