JAKARTA - The Sleman Regency Satpol PP is tracing the traces of liquor sellers consumed by dozens of students of SMP Negeri 3 Berbah.

"We have traced the incident and it is known that alcoholic beverages were purchased from someone in the Piyungan area, Bantul Regency," said Head of the Sleman Regency Satpol PP, Shavitri Nurmaladewi as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 11.

To take action against sellers of alcoholic beverages, his party coordinated with the Sleman Police and other relevant agencies.

"In handling this incident, an internal team will be carried out to prevent street child violence, while for the sale of alcoholic beverages in coordination with the Sleman Police," he said.

Satpol PP will increase patrol and surveillance activities, especially in the sale of illegal alcoholic beverages in the Sleman area.

"We will increase patrol activities during school hours with the target of students outside the school environment during school hours," he said.

Previously, as many as 16 students of SMP Negeri 3 Berbah consumed alcoholic beverages on December 22, 2022 in a classroom while school was holding an event after the semester-end assessment (PAS).

The Head of the Sleman Regency Education Office, Ery Widaryana, said that dozens of junior high school students in Berbah who were caught having a drinking party in the school environment were subjected to mental coaching at Islamic boarding schools.

"A total of 16 students of SMP Negeri 3 Berbah who are known to have consumed alcoholic beverages have been mentally trained at the Budhi Dharma Piyungan Islamic Boarding School, Bantul Regency," he said.

According to him, the decision was made to provide guidance on the agreement of the school and the parents or guardians of each student.

"Hopefully, by coaching in Islamic boarding schools, students can realize their mistakes and not repeat them so that in the future they can be even better," he said.
