TANJUNGPINANG - The Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office has arrested a Singaporean citizen named Wenhai Guan who is wanted by Interpol and is also on the North Jakarta District Attorney's wanted list (DPO).
"Wenhai Guan was recorded as a Red Notice from Interpol and registered as the North Jakarta District Attorney's DPO", said Riau Islands High Court Intelligence Assistant Lambok Sidabutar in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 10.
Lambok explained that Wenhai Guan was arrested at Batam Center Port, Batam City, Riau Islands, on Monday, January 9 around 11.00 WIB.
Information on the whereabouts of the Singaporean citizen was obtained by the Intelligence Team of the Kepri Prosecutor's Office together with the Batam Attorney General's Intelligence Team from the Batam Immigration Office, that there was a Singaporean citizen on behalf of Wenhai Guan who entered Batam through the Batam Center Port.

Wenhai Guan departs from Singapore Harbor Front Port at 10.30 Singapore time and arrives at Batam Center Harbor at around 11.00 WIB.
"Armed with this information, the team went straight to Batam Center Harbor to arrest the DPO, then took him to the Batam District Attorney for temporary custody before being brought to Jakarta", said Lambok.
DPO Wenhai Guan was detained in a persecution case (article 351 of the Criminal Code) in 2020 by the North Jakarta District Attorney. This case has received legal certainty through court decision number 1573/Pid.B/2020/PN.Jkt.Utr dated March 02, 2021.
Wenhai Guan then appealed with decision Number 84/PID/2021/PT.DKI dated April 23, 2021, with a decision to uphold the district court's decision which sentenced 6 months in prison.
"Wenhai Guan has been brought by a team of executing prosecutors from the North Jakarta District Attorney's Office to Jakarta to carry out the court decision which has permanent legal force", said Lambok.
