GORONTALO - The joint SAR team found Onu Kunja (50), a resident of Padengo Village, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, who was swept away in a local river. The victim was found dead.

Head of the Gorontalo Province Basarnas, I Made Junetra, said the victim was found at the bottom of the river.

"The victim was found after a joint SAR team dived, previously the team conducted a search on the surface using a rubber boat and manual sweeping down the river downstream for approximately one kilometer," he said in Gorontalo, Monday, January 9, as reported by Antara.

He explained that after the victim was evacuated, the joint SAR team immediately took it to the family.

Previously, the communication officer of the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Office received information from the village head of Padengo, that there had been dangerous conditions when residents were swept away by the current of the Padengo Village River.

He told the chronology of the incident, starting when the victim and her children and grandchildren crossed the river when they returned from the garden.

At that time, the victim lost his balance and was dragged by the river currents.

"With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation is declared complete, and the elements involved in this operation are returned to their respective agencies, and we thank you," said I Made Junetra.

This search operation was carried out by a joint SAR team consisting of Basarnas, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Tagana, TNI, Polri and the surrounding community. They use rubber boats, diving equipment, buoys, and a truck to search for victims.
