Denies Resignation from the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate: Still Carrying Out Jokowi's Duties as a Cabinet Member

JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Informatics, Johnny G Plate, denied rumors that he had resigned from the Indonesia Onward Cabinet.

The issue of Johnny Plate stepping down as Minister of Communication and Informatics arose amidst news that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) would be reshuffling his cabinet in January.

Johnny emphasized that until now he was still assigned by President Jokowi to carry out his function as Menkominfo.

"Considering that information related to our duties as the RI Minister of Communication and Information has been widely circulated in society, especially on social media, we can say that until now we are still carrying out the duties and functions entrusted by the president as members of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet", said Johnny G Plate tells reporters, Thursday, January 5.

Johnny also emphasized that the replacement of cabinet members was fully under President Jokowi's authority by the Indonesian constitution. He hopes that every political party (political party) can understand the president's prerogative.

"We believe and believe that every political party in Indonesia understands, understands, and maintains the constitutional prerogative rights of the president", he said.

Johnny also invited all parties not to be directly consumed by issues whose truth was unclear. So that the information circulating can be accountable to the public.

"Come on, let's take care that the information that is distributed and transmitted to the public must first be confirmed so that its accuracy can be accounted for and for the sake of educating the community", said Johnny Plate.

Previously, Deputy Head of National Democracy Ahmad Ali denied the issue of Johnny stepping down as Minister of Communication and Informatics. According to him, the information was not true.

"Not true", said Ali, Thursday, January 5.

Ali said he had confirmed directly with Johnny Plate regarding the issue of withdrawing. However, he said, Plate dismissed the news.

"I questioned Pak Johnny Plate, there is no such issue. There are no plans to resign", he said.

Ali confirmed that the news was fake news. He also questioned the party that spread the issue.

"(So) That's not true. Who circulated who? Who fried it? Say! Better fried tofu, not fake news", he concluded.
