PEKANBARU - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) claimed to have accommodated the aspirations of Riau Governor Syamsuar who wanted special hospital needs in Pekanbaru.

"The needs of hospitals in Pekanbaru are special hospitals, for example, heart, cancer, this is what is needed in Riau Province," said Jokowi after inaugurating the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road in Kampar Regency, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel, Wednesday, January 4.

The President admitted that he had discussed this with Syamsuar and the possibility to prepare for the construction of a special hospital to meet these needs.

"I just discussed with the Governor, the land may be prepared from the province, later we (talangi) buildings and medical devices, but just talked about it," he said, confiscated by Antara.

Before inaugurating the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road, the President made a surprise visit to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Arifin Achmad to review the services of patients with BPJS facilities.

In addition, Jokowi also saw various medical devices (alkes) for heart disease, cancer, and stroke services which he said went well at Arifin Achmad Hospital.

The President said the Ministry of Health had provided medical equipment assistance for the treatment of heart disease and cancer to the Arifin Achmad Hospital.

"This will soon arrive for medical equipment worth Rp130 billion. This means that we want to reduce the number of our citizens seeking treatment abroad, especially our neighboring friendly countries," said Jokowi.

Meanwhile, for BPJS services at Arifin Achmad Hospital, the President admitted that the process had gone well. Jokowi hopes that the same thing can happen in all hospitals that provide BPJS services.

"We hope that not only in Pekanbaru, in other hospitals, both central, provincial, district/city, and private hospitals, who participate in BPJS, all have good service standards. Because now it's not like before, BPJS is late to pay, now it's not. BPJS has enough money to pay on time," he said.
