The Case File For The Complete Unial New Student Revenue Bribe, The Inactive Chancellor Of Karomani, Will Immediately Be Tried At The Tanjungkarang District Court, Lampung

JAKARTA - The bribery case for accepting students at the University of Lampung (Unila) will enter a new chapter. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has transferred the defendants' files to the prosecutor.

The defendants in this case, namely the inactive Unila Chancellor Karomani together with the inactive Unila Rector I Heriyandi and the inactive Senate Chair M Basri will soon be tried at the Tanjung Karang District Court (PN), Bandar Lampung.

"KPK Prosecutor Agung Satrio Wibowo has finished transferring the case files and indictments of the defendant Karomani et al to the Corruption Court at the Tanjung Karang District Court," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Wednesday, January 4.

After the delegation was carried out, Karomani and the other two defendants were still in detention. They are just waiting for the time of the inaugural trial with the agenda of reading the indictment.

"The next team of prosecutors is waiting for the determination of the trial schedule with the agenda of reading the indictment," he said.

In this case, the KPK has named four suspects for alleged bribery for accepting new students (maba) at the University of Lampung in 2022. The determination of this suspect began with a hand arrest operation carried out in Lampung, Bandung, and Bali.

The suspects involved in this case are the Chancellor of the University of Lampung 2020-2024 Karomani; Vice Chancellor I for Academic Affairs of Lampung University Heryandi; Senate Chair of Lampung University Muhammad Basri; and private Andi Desfiandi.

Karomani is suspected of setting a price for prospective new students on campus with a range of Rp. 100 million to Rp. 350 million while carrying out Independent Selection to Enter Lampung University (Simanila). This request was made after Heryandi and Muhammad Basri personally selected the ability of parents to pay.

From his actions, the KPK suspects that Karomani managed to collect Rp603 million from a lecturer named Mualimin. Furthermore, he used the money he received for personal purposes amounting to Rp575 million.

Meanwhile, from Muhammad Basri and Budi Sutomo, who are the Head of the Planning and Public Relations Bureau of the University of Lampung, it is suspected that the total money received by Karomani reached Rp4.4 billion. This money was later transferred to deposit savings, gold bars, and some were still in the form of cash.
