Jokowi's Hopes In Facening 2023: Indonesia Is Not Imbetting On Global Recession

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hopes that Indonesia will not be affected by the global recession as a resolution for 2023.

"Yes, we hope that Indonesia will not be affected by the global recession. That's all," said Jokowi after visiting Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta, Monday, December 2, Antara was confiscated.

The President reminded that globally 2022 is considered a year of turbulence, while 2023 is the year of the test.

If Indonesia can pass the test as well as overcome turbulence in 2022, Jokowi believes that it will make it easier for economic growth in 2024.

"If we can get through yesterday's turbulence in 2022, we hope that in 2023 it will be a test year if we can pass it, God willing, in 2024 it will be easier for our economic growth," he said.

Furthermore, the President also expressed hope that Indonesia's economic growth in 2023 could be above 5 percent.

"I am optimistic that in 2022 economic growth will be above 5 percent. We hope that we pray that by 2023 it can be above 5 percent," said Jokowi.

The government has not released the national economic growth rate in 2022, but based on data for the 2022 III quarter, national economic growth is recorded at 5.72 percent year on year (yoy).

Then the strengthening of national economic recovery can also be seen with a growth rate of 1.8 percent in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the second quarter.

The President also conveyed that his visit to Tanah Abang Market was carried out to review the conditions of the real economic sector while hoping to create optimism following the revocation of the policy for the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) as of December 30, 2022.

"Because 2022 years was not easy, the previous year was also far from easy. So we hope that in 2023 there will be optimism because PPKM has been revoked," said Jokowi.
