PKS Notes For Governments During 2022: Performance Is Still Far From Hope

JAKARTA - The PKS faction of the DPR noted the government's performance throughout 2022. PKS assessed that there were still many problems that had not been handled by the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government at the end of the period.

Chairman of the PKS faction of the DPR, Jazuli Juwaini, noted that various indicators of economic, political, and legal affairs were not evaluated properly. According to him, many inappropriate policies do not even reflect the spirit to'return faster to rise stronger' as often conveyed by the government. "As a result, the government's performance is still far from expectations, and has not been able to realize justice and prosperity for the people," said Jazuli, Monday, January 2.

The Banten electoral district legislator said the government's economic performance was not optimal in realizing people's welfare. Jazuli revealed that data showed that the number of poor people decreased in March 2022 by 26.16 million people or around 9.54 percent compared to the same period in 2021 of 27.54 million people or around 10.14 percent. However, according to him, this figure is still relatively high.

"The number of urban poor people compared to rural areas is quite high. In March 2022, the urban poor population was 7.50 percent, while rural areas reached 12.29 percent," he said.

Then, continued Jazuli, the lack of maximum poverty management during the COVID-19 pandemic caused the extreme poverty rate to reach 4 percent or 10.86 million people. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed in Indonesia is 8.42 million people as of August 2022. "This number increased by about 200,000 people from the position as of February 2022 which reached 8.40 million people," he said.

Jazuli said the unemployment rate in Indonesia was still high and had not returned to its pre-pandemic position. At the same time, there are still many threats of layoffs carried out by companies and factories throughout 2022.

"Economic growth at this time is still unable to fulfill the creation of quality employment opportunities, both in terms of demand for labor, and in terms of supply, improving the quality of the workforce. Economic recovery in 2022 cannot be felt by all levels of society," he said.
