JAKARTA - The pile of garbage left over from New Year's Eve in the Central Jakarta area has been cleaned up by hundreds of cleaning officers from the Central Jakarta Environmental Service (Sudin LH) on Sunday, January 1.

"The handling of waste at New Year's celebrations in the Central Jakarta area reaches 20 tons of waste," said Head of the Central Jakarta Environmental Agency (Kasudin LH), Edy Mulyanto when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, January 1.

After cleaning, the garbage was then collected and transported using a truck belonging to the Sanitation Sub-dept.

"The truck that was deployed for the transportation of waste was 5 units. The number of personnel deployed was 475 people to clean up waste after the new year," he said.

In addition to deploying garbage transport trucks, officers also deployed asphalt road drivers' cars.

"A total of 10 sweeper cars were also deployed to crowded points to clear roads from attached garbage," he said.

Of the 20 tons of waste collected by the cleaning staff, then the waste undergoes a sorting process at the waste bank before making it at the Bantar Gebang integrated waste disposal site (TPST).

"A total of 8 tons of waste is managed by waste banks, while 12 tons are thrown into the final processing site (TPA) at the Bantar Gebang TPST," he said.
