Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has checked the flood locations that have occurred in Semarang City due to heavy rains since Friday night, December 30. The number one person in the Central Java Provincial Government started checking floods in the Simpang Lima area, followed by Jalan Gajah Raya, Tlogosari, and Pump Houses in Sawah Besar, as well as Waru.

During the check, Ganjar took the time to interact with the residents he met. While at the Sawah Besar Pump House and Waru, Ganjar received a report from the guard officers who said that all the pump machines were functioning properly.

However, the pump engine at the Waru Pump House had to be stopped, because the water discharge had exceeded the pump engine.

In this regard, Ganjar ensures that the pump officers are alert and ready to operate again if the water discharge starts to fall.

Ganjar admitted that he had received reports from a number of regional heads whose areas were hit by floods, such as Semarang, Pekalongan, Pemalang, and Pati cities.

"Semarang is down at 08.00 WIB, the inundation is still quite high, almost the same as the sidewalk. Earlier I checked there it had started to recede, hopefully if the intensity of the rain subsides it can be immediately clean," he said.

On that occasion, Ganjar appealed to the public to be aware of the bad weather which is predicted to last until early 2023.

"We ask the public to be alert, because this condition is estimated by the BMKG until January 3, 2023, so that every day we must be fully alert. I ask BPBD and volunteers to prepare emergency conditions, such as logistics, rescue equipment, including points required for evacuation," he said.

A number of areas in the city of Semarang, Central Java, were hit by floods with water levels ranging from 50 centimeters to more than one meter due to heavy rains that had occurred since last night.

The areas that were flooded at the end of 2022 include Tlogosari, Kaligawe, Citarum, Mangkang, Ngaliyan, and Tugu.

In addition to residential areas in the area, the flood also inundated roads, causing traffic jams at several points.
