PA Martapura Sumsel Handi 952 Cases Of Divorce Throughout 2022, Generally Based On Economic Factors

SUMSEL - The Martapura Class II Religious Court (PA) handled 952 divorce cases during 2022.

"Throughout this year until December 2022, we have handled 952 divorce cases," said Deputy Chairman of the Martapura Religious Court Class II Akhyaruddin in Martapura, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Timur Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel), Friday 30 December.

According to him, the number of divorce cases increased when compared to the previous year's same period, which amounted to 901 divorce suit cases.

He explained that the divorce cases handled by his party in 2022 consisted of 231 divorce cases, and 721 divorce lawsuits filed by husband and wife in the area.

"The couple who filed for divorce at the Martapura Religious Court are still in their productive age between 25 and 40 years," he said, quoted by Antara.

Most of the divorce cases were caused by economic factors, the existence of third people or infidelity and disputes between husband and wife and quarrels in the household.

"The most dominant thing is that the husband leaves his wife because of a third person until the wife chooses to divorce from his partner," he said.

It's just that, he said, of the number of divorce cases handled by the Martapura Religious Court, there were several cases that were successfully mediated, so that the husband and wife who filed for divorce could make peace.

According to him, in handling divorce cases, his party is trying their best to mediate husband and wife to make peace, so that they can continue a more harmonious household ark.

"Divorce is the last resort because it will have a bad impact on children, so we as much as possible make mediation efforts so that they can reconcile," he said.
