JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will focus on presenting more quality and sustainable tourism in various tourist destinations in Indonesia in 2023.

"One of them is Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, NTT as a super priority tourism destination (DPSP)," said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Thursday in a Year-End Press Discussion (JPAT) at Balairung Soesilo Soedarman, Sapta Pesona Building, Monday (12/26/2022).

Sandiaga also said that even though the increase in admissions to the Komodo National Park had been canceled, the conservation efforts of the area remained the main focus of the relevant ministries/agencies.

He also explained that the government realized that the tourism sector had just risen. However, with quality and sustainable tourism, it will become a bright spot to recover.

"Therefore, we will prioritize the cost of conservation. Where here across ministries and institutions, we will coordinate to present steps so that the infrastructure development that we continue to prepare in the Komodo National Park will not interfere with sustainable tourism activities," said Sandiaga Uno.

According to Sandiaga Uno, apart from the Komodo National Park, the plan to build a cable car in tourist destinations such as Rinjani, NTB and Puncak, West Java will also be encouraged by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

This is because this cable car can be an alternative to environmentally friendly transportation. Sandiaga Uno said, especially for Puncak, because traffic jams in the area have always been repeated and have not been resolved until now.

"And yesterday the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency conducted an initial study and provided recommendations for the automatic train and cable car budget of IDR 7.3 trillion. However, the Bogor Regional Government is still assessing and reviewing the budget," he said.

Investors from Saudi Arabia, said Sandiaga, have shown interest in investing in the development of the cable car. This is based on the results of a working visit by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy to Saudi Arabia, some time ago.

"Therefore, of course, we encourage the acceleration of preparations for this cable car to be realized not only in Bogor but also in several other tourist destinations," concluded the former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.
