CILEGON - MN (48), a male resident of the Duku Malang neighborhood, Tegal Bunder Village, Purwakarta District, Cilegon City was arrested by police officers after threatening his ex-wife with a machete. Not only that, MN has also damaged the victim's house.

The Head of Purwakarta Police, Cilegon Police, Iptu Iwan Sofyan, explained that at that time MN brought a machete and stood in front of his ex-wife's house, UH (40) in Duku Malang, Tegal Bunder Village. MN's arrival at that time asked UH to re-establish the household relationship he had fostered, or reconcile.

"The perpetrator is in front of the victim's house (UH). Because recently the perpetrator has been carrying out terror and threatens the victim to reconcile. But the victim is afraid," said Iwan in a written statement, Wednesday, December 28.

The victim, who was scared, immediately ran out of his house. However, when he wanted to escape, MN pulled a machete from his sarong which was hidden on his waist.

"The victim immediately left the house. And at that time the perpetrator immediately pulled out a machete and pointed it at the victim's shoulder. The victim could avoid it so that it did not hit his back. Then the victim immediately ran while screaming for help from the residents," explained Iwan.

The victim's screams made MN escape towards the back of the perpetrator's house and damaged the water pipe by breaking and unplugging the water pump cable so that the water pump engine could not function.

The victim, who felt aggrieved and threatened with his life, immediately reported to the Purwakarta Police. Officers who received the report immediately acted.

"Not long after, the perpetrator was arrested by the Purwakarta Police along with residents. When he was secured, a machete was found which was tucked into the perpetrator's left waist. Furthermore, the perpetrator and the evidence were secured at the Purwakarta Police," explained Iwan.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 2 Paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 and or Article 406 of the Criminal Code by intentionally destroying other people's belongings with a threat of 10 years in prison.
