BRIN's Predictions On The Potential Of Hurricanes Are Considered To Make It Legal, Commission VII DPR: This Is The Second Case, Immediately Correction

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VII DPR, Mulyanto urged the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to clarify the statements of its researchers which stated that extreme rain to catastrophic storms had the potential to hit Jabodetabek today, Wednesday, December 28.

"BRIN must straighten it out. BRIN must straighten out the statement of the researcher," said Mulyanto on his Twitter account, @pakmul63, Wednesday, December 28.

The deputy chairman of the PKS faction in the DPR assessed that the weather forecast from BRIN researchers made noise. The community became restless when he made it. He asked BRIN to immediately correct his mistake.

"Don't make people restless. Immediately correct," he said.

According to him, this is the second time that BRIN has drawn public unrest. Even this time, the prediction about a devastating storm has the potential to hit Jabodetabek today, trending on Twitter, Indonesia.

"This is the second case. Previously, the tsunami was in Banten," he said.

Previously, BRIN climatologist Erma Yulihastin estimated that extreme rain to catastrophic storms could potentially hit Jabodetabek today.

It is estimated that the weather is based on data compiled from a satellite-based disaster early warning system called Sadive.

"Whoever you live in Jabodetabek and especially Tangerang or Banten, please prepare for extreme rain and catastrophic storms on December 28, 2022," Erma wrote on her Twitter account, @EYuliyastin.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) also responded to the news that became the talk of the community. BMKG reported that the potential for a devastating storm in the Jabodetabek area today is very small.

"Based on the BMKG weather forecast on December 28, 2022, generally it is rain with moderate to heavy intensity. But not a storm!" said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto.

Based on the weather forecast, BMKG appealed to the public to remain calm and not panic. The public, he said, could continue to update information related to the weather through the official BMKG channels.
