JAKARTA - The Central Lombok DPRD highlighted the construction of a cable car from Karang Sidemen Village to Mount Rinjani must pay attention to the environment.

"We support the construction of the Rinjani cable car with a note, do not damage the environment as environmental observers hope," said Chairman of the Central Lombok DPRD, M Tauhid in Praya, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Tuesday, December 27.

However, Tauhid responded positively to the cable car project towards Mount Rinjani, which had been planned for a long time. He also hopes that the construction will be completed quickly.

"This is a plan before the current Central Lombok Regent (H Lalu Pathul Bahri, ed), hopefully it can be realized," he said.

If the Rinjani cable car is built, Tauhid considers tourist destinations in Central Lombok Regency far from sufficient. In the south of Central Lombok, there is a MotoGP Circuit that stands in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK), while in the north there are cable trains, waterfalls and Motor Cross Circuits.

"Development between the south and north will be balanced and can support the economic growth of the community," he said.

He also emphasized to investors to complete all permits or conditions for the construction of the Rinjani cable car, so that unwanted things do not happen.

In addition, investors are expected to involve the local community in the construction of cable trains and when they have started to function. Local governments must intensively disseminate information to the community so that miscommunication does not occur in the construction of the cable car.

"All permits and Amdal must be completed first and then carry out development and the local community must be a priority in order to have a positive impact," he said.

He detailed that the total land area used for the cable car reaches 500 hectares with a train length of up to 10 kilometers, later it will also be equipped with other supporting facilities.

The construction of this tourist facility cost IDR 2.2 trillion. The location of the peak of the suspension train stop is about two kilometers below the Pelawangan Rinjani Post.
