The Bantul Police have mapped at least four routes to tourist attractions that are prone to traffic jams during the 2023 New Year holiday.

"The strategic steps taken are to establish security posts (Pospam), Integrated Posts and Monitoring Posts, then engineering and diverting traffic flow, and form a traffic jam break-up team," said Bantul Police Chief AKBP Ihsan in Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Tuesday 27 December.

Ihsan explained that the four routes he meant were on Jalan Wonosari Piyungan Bantul, which is an accident-prone route and a stuck vehicle.

Then, Jalan Cino Mati as an alternative route to the Dlingo hilly tourist area which is a route prone to stuck vehicles, due to road conditions with steep inclines and road sides in the form of ravines.

Furthermore, Jalan Imogiri-Mangunan which is a route prone to stuck vehicles and traffic accidents, as well as Jalan Parangtritis which is considered prone to traffic jams, and prone to traffic accidents.

He also said that at every post established on the vulnerable route, joint personnel from the police, the TNI and the Transportation Service were alerted, coordination steps had been taken during a meeting with the Bantul Forkopimda some time ago.

Furthermore, Ihsan said that during the end of the 2023 New Year holiday, there were no restrictions on community activities or vehicle isolation as at last year's moment which still contained restrictions due to the impact of the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM).

"Now PPKM level 1 has made things normal, so we can't compare it with the previous two years and three years. There is no instruction from the President or the Minister of Home Affairs to limit community activities," he said.

Thus, he said, in the regions must be prepared to face a surge in tourists during year-end holidays, especially at the same time as school holidays, so that is a factor that enlivens the movement of people both going home and traveling to tourist attractions.

"There are 44 million surveys from the Ministry of Transportation that will carry out movements dominated by cars, of course there are those who want to take a vacation, return to their hometowns. From this survey, we can see that the city of Yogyakarta, including Bantul, is the highest destination for holidays," he said.
