JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri asked his subordinates not to hesitate to take action, including the Hand Catch Operation (OTT). Anyone who is corrupt must be dealt with firmly without exception.

"I also order all KPK personnel, never doubt to act decisively to enforce the law for perpetrators of corruption, including arrests," said Firli at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, December 27.

However, Firli reminded that the action taken must be in accordance with applicable regulations. The adequacy of evidence must be considered even though it is not easy.

"Given the upcoming tasks of the KPK, it will be even more difficult," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK.

Firli ensured that the KPK would not indiscriminately investigate allegations of corruption. Even though they are in their executive family, they will not be affected by any power.

Firli also emphasized that his institution will not be subject to anyone. "KPK is a state institution within the executive family whose duties and authorities are not affected by any power, and the KPK is not subject to anyone," he said.

Furthermore, Firli reminded officials not to practice rasuah. This warning is not just a hoax because there are thousands of cases that have been investigated since 2004.

"KPK from 2004 to the present day has carried out 1,507 investigations, 1,350 investigations and 1,350 prosecutions," he concluded.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan reminded the KPK not to take action often and take maximum precautions. This was conveyed in front of the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.

"We just want to clean up really in heaven. So the KPK shouldn't catch a little bit. That's not good either, yes, look around," Luhut said in his speech at the Launch of Corruption Prevention Action 2023-2024 in the Central Jakarta area, Tuesday, December 20.

Not only that, Luhut also considers that the hand-catching operation (OTT) that is often carried out by the anti-corruption commission also has a bad impact. So, he said, all procurement should be digitized so that corruption prevention can be carried out.

"OTT, OTT is actually good for this country, it's really bad, that's it. But if digitalizes who wants to fight us," he concluded.
