Landa Floods In Makassar, 3,046 Affected Houses And 1,054 Refugees

A total of 3,046 housing units were affected by the flood due to overflowing river water in Makassar, South Sulawesi. This disaster was triggered by moderate to heavy rain during the peak period of extreme weather from 24-25 December 2022.

Makassar BPBD Chief Executive Achmad Hendra Hakamuddin said there were 46 flood points spread across 16 sub-districts. That is based on data he received as of December 25, 2022, at 20.00 WITA.

He explained that the 46 points include three sub-districts, namely Manggala, Biringkanaya and Tamalanrea sub-districts. The number of residents affected by the flood was recorded at 7,859 people with 2,336 families (KK), while the number of houses affected by the flood was 3,046 units.

"There are 16 units of active evacuation posts for survivors in three sub-districts, namely, Mangala District, Biringkanaya District and Tamalanrea. The number of temporary refugees in all posts is recorded as 1,054 people or 271 families," said Hendra, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 25.

The flood locations in Manggala District are located in Perumnas Antang Blok 10 and Jalan Manggala Dalam, Manggala Village and Tamangapa Village.

A total of 711 people or 180 families of survivors temporarily evacuated in eight active posts spread across a number of local mosques and posyandu buildings because their houses were submerged in water above 100 centimeters.

Furthermore, in Biringkanaya Subdistrict, the location of the flood in the Kawek and Paccerakg sub-districts. A total of seven active evacuation posts were established with a total of 318 survivors or 81 families temporarily evacuated at the post because their houses were submerged in water.

In Tamalanrea District, there is only one refugee location at the Al Muhajirin Mosque, Bung Permai Complex. A total of 25 people or 10 families fled in that place.

Previously, the Mayor of Makassar Moh Ramdhan Pomanto had instructed all levels of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), sub-district heads and village heads to reduce strength to help victims including evacuation and provision of food and facilities for victims at evacuation posts.
