Having Not Implemented Traffical Engineering, Korlantas Polri Calls The Christmas And New Year's Homecoming Flow Still Normal

JAKARTA - Dirgakkun Korlantas Polri Brigadier General Aan Suhanan said that his party had not implemented traffic engineering on the homecoming route during the period of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year homecoming periods.

So far, the police have noted that there has been no surge in vehicles leaving the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas on the D-2 Christmas 2022 or Wednesday, December 23 afternoon.

"For the traffic flow to the east from Jabodetabek, there has been an increase, but until this morning we did not carry out traffic engineering either in the arteries, Pantura, national roads, middle lanes, then on the toll road from the direction of Jabodetabek to Java, we also did not have traffic engineering," he told reporters, Saturday, December 24.

Based on the results of monitoring, there was indeed an increase in the number of vehicles leaving the Jabodetabek area to the West or East at 17.00 WIB.

However, over time the number of passing vehicles has decreased. So, it is considered that there is no need to apply traffic engineering.

"At midnight there was a decrease in traffic flow, the peak (vehicle flow, red) at 17 was around 4000 more per hour, it was at (hit, red) 16-17 in the afternoon," he said.

"So everything is still green. Even though there is an increase. The increase is still below 2000 for the hour towards Merak. This means that overall reports from the ranks for toll roads, arteries, and tourism including Bogor, the peak is also normal," continued Aan.

Apart from that, Aan said the prediction of the peak of the homecoming flow at the moment of Christmas 2022 occurred for two days. To be precise, December 23 and 24.

"According to the predictions we made based on some input from the stakeholder, the peak of the flow is December 23-24," said Aan.
