JAMBI - The Manpower Service and the police are investigating an oil and gas company in West Tanjungjabung Regency related to a work accident that caused eight workers to catch fire.
The accident occurred on Sunday, December 18 at the location of the Neb#9 Gas Line, RT 06, Pematang Buluh Village, Betara District, West Tanjungjabung Regency (Tanjabbar).
Head of the Tanjabbar Regency Manpower Office, Dinda Putra, said that his party moved quickly to find out about the incident and had coordinated with various related parties such as PetroChina as well as subcontractors and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan related to burns victims in the incident.
"We immediately contacted BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and summoned PetroChina on Monday and confirmed that the summons requested that there be serious handling and similar things not to happen again," he said, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, December 20.
Then the summons was to ask for more responsibility and explanation about the incident and the more intensive and professional handling of PetroChina's side and other related parties.
Currently, the eight victims are still being treated intensively at Siloam Jambi Hospital.
"For one victim who is being treated in the ICU, Siloam Hospital will soon be evacuated to Jakarta for further treatment and based on information from HRD PetroChina this morning, all costs will be borne by the oil and gas company," said Dianda.
Meanwhile, West Tanjab Police Chief AKBP Muharman Arta added that his party would also conduct an investigation regarding this matter by summoning the company to ask for information on what caused the gas pipeline leak, whether in this work there was a work violation or not.
"This will later be known after the examination of all parties is completed and we will check whether there is an element of negligence or not is important," said the Police Chief.
Currently, in the area where the incident occurred, an area is being closed and road access around the location is diverted to another area, this is done to prevent unwanted incidents from happening.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Commission II of DRPD Tanjung Jabung Barat (Tanjabbar) Syufaryogi Saiful said this was an incident and this case became an evaluation material in the future, which of course became an evaluation material so that in the future there would be no more victims or similar incidents.
He sees PetroChina as a large company of course having to maintain the safety of workers can be even better where the protection of employees in the field while working is very important and we ask the oil and gas company to provide the best compensation and services to the victims.
On that occasion, Syufaryogi also expressed his hope that in the future the field's technical details could be even safer and this became a joint concern such as the depth of the pipe and the distance to the location of the pipe to the community's land.
