SUKABUMI - Joint officers from elements of the TNI, Polri, and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), assisted by volunteers to date are still trying to open access to the national road connecting the Sukabumi-Palabuhanratu route, precisely in Pasirsuren Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, which was buried by landslides. "As of 10.30 WIB on Tuesday, the main road access from Sukabumi to Palabuhanratu or vice versa cannot be passed by various types of motorized vehicles because they are still covered by landslide material," said Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Dedy Darmawansyah in Sukabumi, Antara, Tuesday, December 13. According to the information gathered, the landslide that blocked access to Jalan Nasional II, precisely between Kampung Cikananga and Kampung Pasirsuren, Tonjong Village, Palabuhanratu District around PT Citimu, occurred at around 21:30 WIB on Monday, December 12 yesterday. Although there were no casualties in this incident, the road access was completely closed or could not be passed by vehicles either from Sukabumi to Palabuhanratu or vice versa. Heavy equipment was also deployed to evacuate large soil, stone, and tree trunk materials. But unfortunately the heavy equipment belonging to the Public Works Agency (DPU) of Sukabumi Regency was damaged when evacuating various avalanche materials that closed the national road. As a result, the process of evacuating avalanche material was hampered. Luckily, other heavy equipment was brought back by the Sukabumi Regency Kodim 0622 to try to open the access road. Dedy said to speed up the evacuation process, Sukabumi Police Samapta personnel were deployed to the location with various equipment such as cutting tools, hoes and others. "We have also instructed the Sukabumi Police Traffic Unit personnel to regulate the flow of traffic that is about to enter the main route connecting Sukabumi-Palabuhanratu," he added. Meanwhile, the Head of the Sukabumi Regency Regional SAR Coordination Forum (FKSD) Okih Fajri said the road covered by the landslide was about 25 meters long and 20 meters wide. The thickness of the landslide material that closed National Road II caused the evacuation to take quite a long time. It is hoped that soon this road access can be passed by vehicles again. His party also appealed to residents who want to go to Palabuhanratu and Sukabumi to use the Cikidang Alternative Route in Cikidang District, Sukabumi Regency.
