Firli Bahuri said the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had detained hundreds of perpetrators of corruption from January to November this year. Firli made this achievement in front of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin during the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia).

The activity was held at the Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta today, Friday, December 9. Apart from Ma'ruf, this activity was also attended by ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

"For 2022, from January to November 2022, 115 perpetrators of corruption have been detained by the KPK," Firli said in his remarks at the opening of the event.

Meanwhile, since the KPK was established, said Firli, 1,749 suspects have been named.

"It consists of several professions," he explained.

From the slide that was shown when Firli spoke, the profession that carried out the most corrupt practices was the private sector, namely 370 people and followed by the DPR and DPRD which reached 319 people.

From this data, Firli said that eradicating corruption must be done. However, he did not want the KPK to just arrest corruptors without a deterrent effect.

Moreover, perpetrators of corruption tend not to give up if they are only punished by a crime. "Action is not only collecting but how we cause a deterrent effect so that people do not want corruption," he said.

"The study shows that the perpetrators of corruption are not afraid of the threat of the body. But they are afraid that they will be impoverished," continued Firli.

The Hakordia commemoration activity is currently still ongoing. Apart from Ma'ruf Amin, there were other invited guests who attended, such as the 10th Vice President and 12 Jusuf Kalla.

Next was Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Religion Yaqut Qholil Qoumas, and Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly.

Then also present were Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziah, and Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi, Governor of North Sulawesi Olly Dondokambey, and Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya.
