JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that foreign tourist visits to Indonesia until October 2022 had reached 3.92 million visits.

This figure has even exceeded the target of foreign tourist visits to the country for years, which ranges from 1.8 million-3.6 million people.

"This means that it has passed the target of 3.6 million upper limits. And if we continue to increase this momentum, it will be able to penetrate more than 5 million foreign tourist visits," said Menparekraf Sandiaga as quoted from the official broadcast, Wednesday, December 7.

He said this achievement shows that foreign tourists' trust in Indonesian tourism is getting better.

Sandiaga also revealed that currently Australia is no longer ranked first as the country with the most foreign tourist visits.

"Here there is a change which was originally Australia number 1 now Malaysia is ranked first. Furthermore, in the new number two is Australia, Singapore is number 3, Timor Leste has reached the top five, and India is ranked fifth," said Menparekraf Sandiaga.

In addition, the room occupancy rate also managed to reach above 50 percent.

Sandiaga is also optimistic that if this momentum can be maximized properly, then not only in 2022 will foreign tourist visits be able to exceed the target, but the target for foreign tourist visits between 3.6 million - 7.2 million by 2023 can also be achieved.

"We are sure that even if there is a recession threat, we will be able to deal with it," said Sandiaga.

In addition, Sandiaga advised all tourism industry players and the creative economy to increase their prudence and vigilance in welcoming the momentum of the 2022/2023 Christmas and New Year holidays. Given the extreme weather and disaster-prone.

"I just received directions from the President, because there is an increase in weather anomalies, rainfall, there is a possibility of landslides, earthquakes, so we must be aware, we must be careful and we must prioritize CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability)," Sandiaga said.

He also appreciated the trial period for Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) which had just been revitalized and has now reopened on a limited basis.

He also appreciated the trial opening of TMII which has been able to create a destination that is revitalized with an environmentally friendly vehicle approach through an electric vehicle (EV).

"And for the Nataru holiday, Taman Mini is one of the favorites for tourist visits," said Sandiaga.
