JAKARTA - A total of 8 RTs in North Jakarta were again hit by coastal flooding or tidal waves this morning. The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that the water level there reached 30 centimeters.

"BPBD noted that there are 8 RTs out of 30,470 RTs in the DKI Jakarta area, which floods from the coast to 10.30 WIB," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji in his statement, Wednesday, December 7.

In detail, as many as 5 RTs in Pluit Village were submerged by tidal flooding with a height of up to 25 centimeters, 2 RTs in Marunda Village with water levels reaching 30 centimeters, and 1 RT in Koja Village with water levels reaching 20 centimeters.

BPBD DKI Jakarta mobilizes personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each region and coordinate elements of the Natural Resources Service, Highways Office, Gulkarmat Service to carry out inundation suction and ensure water lines function properly together with local lurah and sub-district heads.

"The inundation is targeted to recede in a short time," said Isnawa.

The tidal flood is predicted to hit from 6 to 28 December. This information is based on the latest data obtained by the Tanjung Priok Maritime Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"Be aware of the coastal flooding (rob) of DKI Jakarta Province from December 6 to December 13 at 08.00 to 12.00 WIB," said Isnawa.

The coastal areas of DKI Jakarta such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru are advised to be aware of the increase in the maximum sea level which has the potential to cause coastal flooding.

The potential for tidal flooding in six urban villages located in North Jakarta occurs in line with sea level rise. "The existence of tidal activity along with the new moon phase affects coastal dynamics that have the potential to cause coastal flooding or tidal flooding," said Isnawa.
