JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said the government had begun to prepare land clearing and build thousands of houses to replace residents' houses damaged by the Cianjur earthquake.
Basuki said that the relocation of house construction was in two areas, namely 200 houses in Cilaku District and 2,400 houses in Mande, Cianjur Regency.
"2.5 hectares in Cianjur (Cilaku) have now been running (developing) for about 200 houses. Then we are landing clearing 30 hectares for about 2,400 houses," said Basuki in the Central Jakarta area, Sunday, November 4.
Basuki targets that all houses that are rebuilt for residents affected by the earthquake will be completed in March-April 2023, before Eid al-Fitr.
"We will finish everything before Hari Raya. So that later on holidays in April, they will already occupy their new homes. Including school buildings, mosques, DPRD buildings, and our health centers, we will prioritize and start rehabilitation," he explained.
Based on the records of the Ministry of PUPR, as many as 27 thousand houses were heavily damaged by the earthquake, 11 thousand houses were moderately damaged, and 22 thousand houses were slightly damaged.
The government distributed stimulant funds of Rp. 10 million for lightly damaged houses, Rp. 25 million for moderately damaged houses, and Rp. 50 million for heavily damaged houses.
"What is seriously damaged can be built on its own land or must be relocated because it is a fault area, or an area recommended by the geological body must be relocated," said Basuki.
Furthermore, Basuki said that currently there are no isolated areas due to the earthquake. All connectivity lines in Cianjur can be passed. However, there is still one damaged bridge that needs to be repaired.
"In Cijedil, there is only one bridge that we have to build. Because those below have been damaged and we want to make new ones. For those who are connected, all of them are isolated, be it district roads, sub-district roads, village roads, we open, especially those in Cugenang," he added.
