PANDEGLANG Police Satpolairud Pandeglang arrested five suspects in fishing using bombs in the waters of Tanjung Sinini Block, Ujung Kulon National Park, Pandeglang Banten.

Head of Polairud Polres Pandeglang AKP Zul Ahmadi Ampera revealed that the perpetrators used homemade fish bombs.

Zul Ahmadi said the arrests were made after his party carried out patrols with the Ujung Kulon National Park RPU Marine Patrol Team.

"From the perpetrators, his party secured 12 bottles of explosive-ready bombs, 7 axleless bottles containing white polorate potassium, 24 axes, 1.25 kg Brown, 63 coconut axes, 15 bottle caps made of rubber, 3 packs of matches, 1 set of bomb-assembled equipment, 1 unit of motorboat, 2 units of motorboats, 4 glasses, 2 weights each 5 kg, 1 compressor, 1 roll of a yellow compressor tube of approximately 50 meters long color," he said.

Zul Ahmadi revealed that it is feared that the use of explosives like this could damage coral reefs, fish species, and other marine biota.

"250 grams of fish bombs can destroy at least 50 m2 coral reefs. Of the total evidence seized, the potential for damage caused is an area of thousands of m2 which takes tens to hundreds of years to return it to its original state," he said.
