Last Year 22 Patients, Now 19 People With HIV / AIDS In Pamekasan

JAKARTA - The Pamekasan Health Service, East Java, acknowledged that 19 people were positive for HIV which caused damage to the immune system or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

"The data on the number of residents who are positive for HIV/AIDS is in accordance with reports from each health care unit spread across 13 sub-districts in Pamekasan as of November 2022," said Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Pamekasan Health Office Hidayat in Pamekasan, East Java, Thursday, December 1, as reported by Antara.

The number of people with HIV/AIDS 2022 is less than 2021. Because, in 2021 there are 22 people with HIV/AIDS in Pamekasan.

According to Hidayat, residents who are positive for HIV/AIDS are currently receiving special treatment from the Pamekasan Regency Government medical team, especially related to the pattern of consumption of anti-trivial drugs (ARV).

"ThisARV does not kill the virus, but can only slow the growth of the virus. The growth time of the virus is slowed down, as well as HIV disease," he said, explaining.

These HIV/AIDS sufferers in Pamekasan are generally residents who are still of productive age, which is between 30 and 40 years old.

The Head of P2P of the Pamekasan Health Office, Hidayat, further explained that various efforts are now being made to suppress new cases of HIV/AIDS. Among other things, by intensifying counseling on the importance of staying away from promiscuity among teenagers and youth, as well as intensifying socialization about the dangers of HIV/AIDS.

Strengthening religious education is an important part in increasing awareness among adolescents and youth.

"World AIDS Day is also an important moment to remind us all about the dangers of HIV/AIDS," he said.
