Fire At Mosamba Market Palu, City Government Salurkan Food Logistics Ready To Saat To 50 Affected Residents

PALU - The City Government of Palu, Central Sulawesi provided logistical assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food for victims affected by the Masomba Market fire. "We have prepared 136 ready-to-eat food packages for about 50 fire victims," said Acting Head of the Palu City Social Service, Walawati in Palu, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 1. He explained that this logistical assistance was a form of government concern for affected residents because such a disaster could not be predicted. Although logistics are only ready-to-eat food, he said, at least this assistance can be useful for the community to meet their food needs, as well as ease the burden of meeting their needs. " ready-to-eat food is sent through the Disaster Preparedness Team (Tagana) for lunch for residents affected by the fire," he said. Currently, his party is still limited to distributing urgent assistance, especially logistics, because foodstuffs are needed by them in emergency situations. "There is no other assistance yet. We are still prioritizing food ingredients, because in a situation like this people definitely need to eat," he said. The Masomba Market Fire in South Palu District occurred last Wednesday night, at around 21.30 WITA. Masomba Market is the second largest traditional market in Palu, after Manonda Market in West Palu District. In that incident, the local Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire fleets to extinguish the blaze. According to the records of the Palu City Government, Masomba Market has so far been burned three times. The previous fire occurred twice in August 2017.
