The Regency Government (Pemkab) of North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU) has allocated Rp11 billion to continue the construction of houses for victims of landslides in Telemow Village, Sepaku District, East Kalimantan (Kaltim).

"Construction of houses for victims of landslides in Telemow Village requires Rp17 billion in funds but what will be allocated in the 2023 APBD is only Rp11 billion," said Head of the PPU Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Marjani in Penajam, East Kalimantan, Thursday, December 1. The landslide disaster that occurred on April 12, 2018 damaged 25 houses in RT 6 and seven Telemow Villages, Sepaku District, as well as other buildings with potential landslides, so it is necessary to relocate them more securely. "Residents who are around prone to landslides have also been relocated, so the houses built are 51 units," he said. The Rp11 billion budget allocated in the 2023 APBD North Penajam Paser Regency to complete the construction of 45 housing units, PAUD buildings (early childhood education), PJU (public road lighting) and clean water facilities. "The budget for the construction of environmental roads and prayer rooms will be allocated in the following year," he said.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) provided assistance for victims of landslides in Telemow Village, Sepaku District Rp18 billion in 2021. The budget is for the construction of 51 units of type 36 houses, PAUD buildings, prayer rooms, two units of clean water treatment plant (WTP), drainage, filtering and environmental roads with concrete materials, and PJU as many as 60 units. "The work was only completed 15.22 percent with only six houses built, so the grant funds from the central government were returned to Rp15 billion," he explained. The central government rejected the request for an extension of the use of grant funds because they were lately submitted, and in accordance with the Minister of Finance Regulation if the work was not completed, the regional head was obliged to allocate the continued development budget. The construction of the house for victims of landslides in Telemow Village in 2021 is handled by BPBD, said Marjani, the continuation of the construction is handled by the Housing, Settlement and Land Offices.
