CIANJUR - The ESDM Ministry's Disaster Preparedness Team through the Geology Agency built 19 drilled well points for earthquake survivors in Cianjur, West Java Province.

Acting Head of the Geological Agency Muhammad Wafid hopes that the clean water facility can benefit earthquake victims in the area.

"The construction of clean water drilled wells is being carried out at 19 points in affected locations where it is difficult to get clean water", he said in a statement quoted in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, November 30.

He said of the 19 drilled well points, three points have entered the drilling stage, two points will enter the drilling stage, four points are in the preparation and mobilization stage, six points are in the survey stage, and the remaining four points are allocated for relocation.

He hopes that the aid from the drilled wells can ease the difficulties of the earthquake survivors in meeting their need for clean water suitable for consumption.

"The clean water supply program through groundwater drilling at the Cianjur earthquake disaster site is expected to help overcome the problem of meeting the clean water needs of the community in water-scarce areas at the disaster site", said Wafid.

Based on the location mapping carried out by the Geological Agency, the most severe damage occurred in areas composed of Mount Gede breccia and lava deposits.

Morphologically, the damaged areas generally have wavy hills. In Cugenang District, the intensity reached VII-VIII Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) marked by massive damage to buildings, especially in Gasol and Sarampad Villages, as well as Cugenang.

Earthquake shocks also trigger ground movements in areas composed of weathered old volcanic products (Qvot).
