The police have uncovered a case of selling illegal fuel oil (BBM) in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Timur Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel). A suspect with the initials TH alias Iyon (31) was arrested.

Director of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol Barly Ramadhany, said the suspect was arrested at the diesel shelter warehouse, Sidodadi Village, Belitang on Thursday, November 24 afternoon.

"The suspect was arrested by hand while preparing an open tub car containing dozens of jerry cans containing a total diesel of 34 liters," he told reporters in Palembang, South Sumatra, Tuesday, November 29.

Based on the suspect's statement, Barly explained that the diesel came from a public gas station (SPBU) owned by PT Pertamina in the Mesuji area, Lampung.

"This is not the first, but the subsidized diesel trading activity carried out by the suspect has been running for the last six months," he said.

During this time span, he continued, the suspect, who previously worked as a farmer, was able to sell or re-anaize as much as three tons of diesel per month, with a total monthly profit of IDR 4 million.

Barly said the suspect, who is a resident of Belitang Subdistrict, East OKU, is currently being held at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters for investigation purposes.

He ensured that investigators from the South Sumatra Police would thoroughly investigate this case to ensure that the supply of fuel to the community was not hampered.
