Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkum HAM) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej said the Draft Criminal Code (RKUHP) regulates the death penalty as an alternative to the probationary period.

"Developments are very meaningful for human rights, namely the death penalty. So, with the enactment of a new Criminal Code, the death penalty is always imposed alternatively with experiments, meaning that judges cannot immediately decide the death penalty, but the death penalty is with a 10-year trial," said Edward after attending a meeting. He explained, if within 10 years the convict behaves well, the death penalty is changed to life sentence or 20 years imprisonment.
