JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccination or the second booster.

"Today I just vaccinated a booster booster," said President Jokowi at the Bogor Palace, Thursday, November 24.

Jokowi also invited the public, especially health workers and the elderly, to get a second dose of booster vaccination.

"And also people whose interactions are high between the community (to be vaccinated) because to this day we have injected 205 million doses, then the second dose of 172 million doses, and for the first booster vaccine 66 million doses have been injected and the second booster is still small, still 730 thousand doses of vaccine," said Jokowi.

The President said that by receiving the second booster vaccination, people's immunity could be maintained.

"And can stop the transmission of COVID-19 from people to people, this is the most important thing. Then the vaccine used this morning is the Indovac vaccine, a domestic 100 percent product," said Jokowi.

The Indovac vaccine is known to have gone through clinical trials and has received an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin at the same location also said booster vaccination was very important because COVID-19 cases in hospitals were increasing.

"The COVID-19 cases that were admitted to the hospital and the cases were classified as moderate and severe, 74 percent had not been boosted. For cases that died, in the last wave 84 percent had not been boosted, so for the public please remind them to quickly boost them," said Budi Gunadi.

According to the Minister of Health, only 66 million of the 234 million targets have carried out booster vaccinations.

"Especially for health workers and the elderly over 60, immediately do a second booster and don't forget to use the booster Indovac because it has proven very effective, not inferior to foreign production," said the Minister of Health.

After being injected with the second COVID-19 booster vaccine, President Jokowi immediately left for Cianjur to check the condition of earthquake victims at that location.

Based on data from the Ministry of Health as of Saturday, November 19, the number of first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine that have been injected in Indonesia has reached 205,306,678 doses.
