1 Helicopter Will Standby In Cianjur For Logistics Transportation Of Earthquake Victims

Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto said his party would alert a helicopter unit in Cianjur to transport the logistics of earthquake victims.

Suharyanto ensured that the needs for victims of the Cianjur earthquake would soon be met, including the public kitchen to be built this afternoon.

"We make sure that as of this afternoon the public kitchen has been established. The logistics are from BPBD," he said at a press conference with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) via BNPB Indonesia YouTube, Monday, November 21.

Suharyanto explained that one of the things that must be prepared in advance in mitigation is logistics. This was discussed with relevant stakeholders before the earthquake occurred.

"If an earthquake occurs, the public kitchen will immediately operate. The Cianjur BPBD also has a field kitchen, not to mention the TNI-Polri," he said.

Suharyanto said logistics for victims of the Cianjur earthquake from the center would be transported using a number of options.

Generally, logistics carriers travel by land by car. However, he continued, to avoid obstacles to distributing aid to isolated areas, the option of air routes could be utilized.

This option is also to prevent logistics distribution from experiencing problems when you have to cross a road that is cut off due to landslides after the Cianjur earthquake.

The air line option uses a helicopter. The helicopter, said Suharyanto, will be parked in Cianjur to be alerted in the process after the disaster occurs.

"Well, tomorrow morning we will also join the Head of BMKG, there are two plans. The first is possible to use a helicopter, now we will standby this helicopter in Cianjur after transporting us," he said.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred in Cianjur at 13.21 WIB on Monday, November 21. A number of houses, offices, Islamic boarding schools and public facilities were damaged.
