JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again carried out hand arrest operations (OTT) using drones to people who dispose of garbage during today's motorized vehicle free day (HBKB) or car free day (CFD) activities.

As many as 230 personnel from the Environmental Service assisted by the DKI Satpol PP took action. As a result, as many as 12 people were observed littering in three CFD locations.

"Violators (proversors) were dealt with in three locations, namely in the Sudirman-Thamrin area; CFD on Jalan Suryopranoto, Central Jakarta; and Lake Sunter, North Jakarta," said Public Relations of the DKI Environmental Agency Yogi Ikhwan to reporters, Sunday, November 20.

There are three people who are subject to social sanctions in the form of picking up trash, as well as nine people who are subject to fines. Fines that must be paid by violators vary, ranging from Rp. 50,000, Rp. 100,000, Rp. 150 thousand, to Rp. 200 thousand. The imposition of this fine is determined according to the financial capacity of violators.

Furthermore, Yogi said that the DKI Provincial Government will also take action against OTT littering along riverbanks. Currently, the Environment Agency is determining locations prone to litter disposal.

"The locations that have been identified on the banks of the river have been identified," said Yogi.

This OTT for littering waste disposal has been initiated by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono since two weeks ago. Heru views that this arrest activity can motivate people to dispose of garbage in its place.

"This is just to motivate the public not to litter. For example, this crowd activity (at CFD), if we see littering, it's simple, really. Use the drones we have, see (people littering), then given education," explained Heru.

As is known, OTT uses this drone as Heru's initiative to control waste pollution in the capital city. This OTT was carried out for the first time at CFD or HBKB activities in the Sudirman-Thamrin area on Sunday, November 6.

This random waste disposal OTT uses the legal basis of Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2013 concerning Waste Management, which states that the Governor can impose administrative sanctions in the form of forced money on everyone or is proven to intentionally throw, pile up garbage and/or carcasses of animals into rivers/times/channels, reservoirs, ponds, wastewater channels, on roads, parks, or public places and subject to a maximum of Rp500,000 of forced money.
