Many International Events Waiting, Minister Sandiaga Target 7.4 Million Tourist Visits Next Year

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno targets foreign tourist visits to reach 3.5 million to 7.4 million by 2023.

This figure has doubled compared to the 2022 target of 1.8 million-3.6 million foreign tourists visiting.

To realize this, a number of international events have been prepared, ranging from the Mandalika MotoGP to the U-20 World Cup.

Sandiaga Uno is optimistic that Indonesia's tourism sector can recover, despite the threat of an economic recession next year.

International MICE activities [meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions] 2023 begin with the implementation of the Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) 2023 which will take place in Yogyakarta in January 2023. Even so, Sandi does not want to depend solely on foreign tourists. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will also focus on domestic tourists whose movements are projected to double to 1.4 billion by 2023.
