JAKARTA - The Class 2A Penitentiary, Salemba, Central Jakarta, has released hundreds of inmates who have served two-thirds of their criminal period.

"A total of 153 inmates have been released because they have served two-thirds of their criminal period and all of them have met administrative requirements," said Head of Salemba Class 2A Prison, Yosafat Rizanto, in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 16.

Yosafat said, of the 153 released, 122 were released and 31 were purely free inmates.

Furthermore, conditionally free prisoners are required to report according to their domicile residence.

"The convicts are still being monitored by the Correctional Center (Bapas), if they commit acts that violate the law, they will re-enter. They will live the rest of the conditional free detention period plus new punishments from violations they committed," he said.

Di tempat yang sama, Kepala Sub Bidang Pembinaan dan Perawatan, Fitrian menjelaskan penjabat yang bebas hari ini hampir semuanya terjelang dalam kasus narkotika.

"In Salemba Prison, most of them are caught in narcotics cases, here 85 inmates are caught in narcotics cases," said Fitrian.

Fitrian said free inmates should not be picked up by their families to reduce crowds.

"Those who are free are all going home alone without being picked up. This reason is to avoid crowds in the Salemba Prison, especially when COVID-19 cases are currently rising," he said.
