Responding To The Kompas Research And Development Survey Regarding Jokowi's Presidential Candidate, Gerindra, Public Values Will See The Performance Of The Ministers

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party responded to the results of the Kompas Research and Development survey regarding the influence of President Jokowi's choice on the presidential candidate of his choice to the public. The reason is, only 15.1 percent of respondents are confident that they will have Jokowi's presidential candidate. According to the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the number of voters does not only follow but also consider the performance of the figures chosen by Jokowi. Moreover, there are still 35 percent of respondents who are still considering following Jokowi's choice.

"I think our voters are also smart, that 15 percent then follow what the president has said. But the rest will definitely see the extent of the performance of the ministers praised by Pak Jokowi, whether later they can still improve their performance or the presidential election will not increase, right," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 15.

Even Dasco said, it was not only Prabowo who was once praised by Jokowi, but also other ministers. It remains only later which ministers want to run for presidential candidates.

"I think praise is not for the purpose of winning the presidential election. I think what Mr. Jokowi told his ministers, not only Mr. Prabowo, that was an expression that was indeed given by the president who was satisfied with the performance of his presidential assistants," he said.

However, Dasco emphasized that currently Prabowo continues to focus on working as Minister of Defense to complete his commitment when joining the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government. "I think that is a commitment that was later conveyed when he was about to carry out reconciliation and later accepted the position as Minister of Defense," said Dasco.

Previously, a recent survey by Litbang Kompas found that the majority of the people said they would not follow President Joko Widodo's advice to elect presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

This was recorded in a survey regarding how impact President Joko Widodo's influence had on supporting the figure of a presidential candidate to run in the 2024 presidential election.

Every respondent is asked about, will you choose the presidential candidate suggested by President Joko Widodo? As a result, 30.1 percent will not choose the figure suggested by Jokowi. Meanwhile, 35.7 percent of respondents answered they were still considering, and the remaining 19.1 percent did not know.

Meanwhile, residents who believe they have chosen a presidential candidate who is supported by Jokowi are only 15.1 percent. This means that the number of residents who are sure to choose the presidential candidate suggested by Jokowi is still far behind the one-third of the public who stated that they will consider it. In this survey, the proportion reads a decline from the June 2022 survey which recorded no less than half of respondents who were still considering following Jokowi's advice in choosing a presidential candidate.
