The Meeting Of The Pelauw-Kariu Reconciliation After The Conflict, Kapolda Hopes To Be A Referral For All Conflict Areas In Maluku

Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif hopes that the reconciliation meeting between representatives of Pelauw and Kariu residents, Central Maluku will be a role model for peace in Maluku. "Hopefully this reconciliation will be the first role model and we will also solve other problems in Maluku, by involving the central government, and affirming the boundaries in accordance with the Law on Handling Social Conflicts Number 7 of 2012," said Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif in Ambon quoted from Antara, Monday, November 14. In Law No. 7 of 2012 concerning the handling of social conflicts, there are three stages of handling. Among them are prevention, termination, and post-conflict recovery. "What we are doing to our brothers and sisters, Pelauw and Kariu, we have entered the post-conflict recovery. I entrusted earlier to the Regional Secretary, let's all work from here. If there are areas where there is no conflict, we will carry out the conflict prevention stage," he said. He admitted that all stakeholders, agencies and all elements of society have the same responsibility in resolving conflicts, not only to the Police. "Often someone says sir please build security posts for the TNI and Polri, Pak build a fort there, it's actually not good for an area. Because it means you want to keep fighting. The post from 10 decreases by 5, decreases by 2 and if necessary there will be no more posts. This is what is just called true peace," explained the Kapolda. Therefore, the Kapolda invites all elements of society in Maluku, especially Pelauw and Kariu to unite their determination together in order to create a safe, peaceful, and prosperous Maluku. "Our work is not only about Pelauw and Kariu, but in Maluku there are 52 points of conflict that continue to occur and keep repeating themselves," he said. He hopes that the problems that often occur at 52 points in Maluku will also become the attention of the central government. "It's not just the problem of Pelauw Kariu. There are many areas that we also need to handle together. So let's respect each other, respect each other, live side by side and also respect other differences. This is the most important thing before we talk about other things," asked the Kapolda. The Kapolda admits that he regrets the conflicts that continue to occur in this area. Other areas in Indonesia, said the Kapolda, continue to advance and develop their territory for welfare, while in Maluku they are still dealing with fights. "In the National Police, other Regional Police in Indonesia said that in its report it was securing regional development, I in Maluku reported that I was securing a fight, even though Maluku is a very strong area if the community is united for development and an increase in the welfare level," he said. This reconciliation was also attended by Deputy I of the Presidential Secretariat Office, Febri Calvin Tetelepta, Pangdam XVI/Pattimura, Major General TNI Ruruh Aris Setyawibawa, Acting Secretary of the Maluku Regional Secretary, Sadali Ie, and Acting Regent of Central Maluku Muhammat Marasabessy. Also present were community leaders, customs, religions, youth, from Pelauw and Kariu countries.
