SLEMAN - The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, regulates accommodation or boarding houses that are converted into lodging, hotels, and others. "The permit they have is a boarding house, but then it functions as an inn or hotel that receives guests daily," said the Head of the Sleman Regency Satpol PP, Shavitri Nurmaladewi in Sleman, quoted from Antara, Thursday, November 10. According to him, the control, which has been carried out since June 2022, has five boarding houses in Kapanewon (Kecamatan) Depok that were found to have abused the boarding house license. "The transfer of the function of boarding houses as hotels violates Sleman Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 9 of 2007 concerning Hospitalization and Sleman Regent Regulation (Perbup) No. 57 of 2015 concerning the Implementation of Hospitalizations that Regulates the Licensing of Hospitalizations." he said. He said that from the owners of the five violating boarding houses, persuasive steps were taken and they were advised to restore their function as boarding houses. "But if later under surveillance it turns out that it is still a violation, then firm action will be taken and processed with a minor crime (tipiring)," he said. Shavitri said that his party continues to monitor and control the cottage business in this area which violates regulations. "Every boarding house business service must have a person in charge and the person in charge of the boarding house must live at the boarding house," he said. He said the person in charge of the boarding house was the owner or person appointed by the owner to be responsible for the business management. "Housement is someone or some people who are given the right to temporarily occupy the use of a room or house as a place to live," he said.
