JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. officers said the fire that hit a minibus on Jalan Letjen Suprapto RT07/04, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta was caused by a short circuit.

Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Asril Rizal, Wednesday, said the fire report was received at 03.05 WIB and then immediately followed up by deploying 20 personnel along with four pump units.

Asril revealed that in the fire the minibus carried five jerry cans of fuel oil (BBM) based on reports from residents who came to the fire station.

Because the fire is still growing, the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. added 76 fire fighting unit assistance in the effort to extinguish it.

"We need additional assistance with 76 fire engines because the burning car is loaded with five fuel jerry cans in the cabin," he added.

The fire was successfully extinguished at around 03.48 WIB.

Separately, the Johar Baru Sector Police (Polsek) conducted an investigation regarding the burning minibus on Jalan Letjen Suprapto, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta.

Head of the Johar Baru Police, Kompol Ari Susanto, said his staff was still hunting for the driver of the minibus who fled after the incident.

"We are still under investigation, and are pursuing the runaway minibus driver," Ari told reporters, Wednesday, November 9.
