JAKARTA - Executive Director of Perludem Titi Anggraini reminded the political elite to carry a figure who reflected the voice of the people. According to him, the 2024 presidential election contestation should not only be happy and lively, but also must be filled with contestants who hear the aspirations of the public.

"Parpol is expected not to be elitist or pragmatic in the nomination process. Back with a mechanism that does not leave party members and public votes and their constituents," said Titi, Tuesday, November 8.

Currently, Titi continued, parties and coalitions are aggressively looking for candidates or even declaring the 2024 presidential candidate. However, referring to Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections, parties or coalitions of parties that can register presidential and vice presidential candidates must have 20 percent of the DPR seat or 25 percent of the national vote from the previous election.

The current coalition has been formed and meets the requirements to propose a new presidential and vice presidential candidate pair for the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) consisting of the Golkar, PPP, and PAN parties, as well as the Indonesia Raya Coalition (KIR) formed by Gerindra and PKB.

But until now, the coalition has not determined its presidential candidate. Therefore, according to Titi, political parties need to be encouraged to declare their candidates sooner.

"So that we can continue to encourage political discourse based on ideas and not rush, so that the public can test their offer of ideas," said Titi.

KIB itself, added Titi, came with PATEN's work program. Where the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, is the Coordinating Minister for the Economy with high flying hours in economic problems. Titi assessed that Jokowi's 'endorse' and political dynamics ahead of the presidential election could be interpreted as anything.
