JAKARTA - Taiwan authorities said 63 military aircraft and four Chinese naval vessels were detected in the vicinity of the region.

The Ministry of Defense said 31 People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft crossed the imaginary center line of the Taiwan Strait and breached their air defense identification zone.

The convoy of Chinese vehicles was tracked by electronic tracking devices, patrol aircraft, ships, and land-based missile systems, the defense ministry said on Twitter.

China has been carrying out military activities around Taiwan since August, when US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led a delegation to the region of more than 24 million people.

China considers Taiwan a "split province" even though Taipei has been under its own government since 1949. Beijing vows to reunite the territory, if necessary by force.

Beijing also reduced military dialogue with the US and suspended cooperation on climate change issues, along with six other countermeasures.
