10 Million Doses Of Domestically Produced COVID-19 Vaccines To Be Injected This Month

JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said around 10 million doses of domestically produced COVID-19 vaccines will be injected into target communities this November to meet the need for booster doses.

"This November, we hope that there will be 5 million doses of domestic vaccine that we can use and in December there will also be another 5 million doses. So the total that can be purchased and used this year is 10 million doses," said Budi Gunadi Sadikin, as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 8.

Budi said that most of the domestic vaccines will be used to give booster doses to the public.

The vaccine in question is the IndoVac vaccine with a recombinant protein subunit platform developed by PT Bio Farma in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine, USA.

The next domestic vaccine, InaVac with an inactivated virus platform, was developed by a research team from Airlangga University in collaboration with producer PT Biotis Pharmaceutical Indonesia.

The Minister of Health said the government purchased 3.6 million doses of IndoVac vaccine and 1.5 million doses of InaVac vaccine in November 2022 to cover the need for 4.94 million booster targets.

Purchases of the two vaccines will continue in December 2022, each with 1.4 million doses of IndoVac vaccine and 3.5 million doses of InaVac to cover the need for more than 5.11 million targets.
