SURABAYA - PDI Perjuangan East Java is optimistic that it can maintain leadership in districts / cities which have traditionally been the 'base' of the Banteng in the 2020 Pilkada.

Based on incoming internal and external quick count results, the candidate pairs promoted by PDIP are superior in several districts previously led by regional heads not from PDIP.

"Data collected by friends of the East Java PDI-P PDI-P Witness National Witness Body (BSPN) until 17.00 WIB this afternoon, our candidate pairs are winning in 11 districts / cities. Others, the votes are still collected," said the Chairman of the East Java PDIP DPD, Kusnadi, in Surabaya, Wednesday, December 9.

Meanwhile, the PDIP cadres have traditionally held leadership of the PDIP, continued Kusnadi, the internal and quick count counts of the survey institutions have shown encouraging results.

For example in Surabaya, the PDIP champions are like being besieged, and are facing money politics and political division, but the Eri Cahyadi-Armudji pair remains at the top in all survey institutes' quick counts.

"This proves the heroism of arek-arek Surabaya in winning Eri-Armudji," said Kusnadi.

Kusnadi, who is also the Chairperson of the East Java DPRD, also mentioned other regions that have also shown victories for PDIP-nominated candidate pairs. Among them are Kediri, Ngawi, Trenggalek, Banyuwangi, Ponorogo, Malang, Sumenep, Gresik, Situbondo, and Blitar districts.

Meanwhile in three regions, the PDIP champion managed to seize leadership. Like Ponorogo, Gresik and Situbondo. "This includes the new regencies / cities that will be led by our candidate pair. Previously, the PDI-P candidate pair had never won in this area," Kusnadi,

"And in the 11 districts / cities, we dispatched PDI Perjuangan cadres, either as candidates for regional head, deputy regional head, or both like Surabaya and Banyuwangi," he said.

Secretary of the East Java PDIP DPD Sri Untari Bisowarno, added that although the initial results of PDIP were still superior in 11 districts / cities, his party was still optimistic that they could win the regional elections in East Java according to the target, namely winning in 13 districts / cities.

"BSPN East Java is still collecting the results of votes and the process is still ongoing. We are optimistic that we can win regional elections in at least 13 districts / cities, "said Untari.
