Rp400 BILLION Has Been Allocated For The Executing Tender Winners, But The Recovery Of The Kurau River Doesn't Start

Central Bangka Regent Algafry Rahman said the government had allocated a budget of around Rp. 400 billion for the recovery of the Kurau River.

"That's a budget of around Rp. 400 billion because we have to dredging, building checkdams, wavehold embankments, and relocating residents affected by this activity," he said in Koba, Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Monday, October 31, quoted from Antara.

All of the recovery activities of the Kurau River, whose funds come from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), should have been running this year.

"It should have started work, even what I know is that it has been auctioned and the winner is already there, but it was canceled first," he said.

The Regent admitted that he did not know the reason for the cancellation of the Kurau River recovery project.

However, he said, the district government is trying to carry out river recovery work, considering the condition of the river has worsened.

"The silting of the river flow is very high, flooding always lurks if it rains with high intensity, and we will also arrange Kurau to get out of the slum area," he said.

"On average, the people of Kurau Village are fishermen and they have complained about silting in the mouth of the river for a long time," he said.

The Regent said that the normalization plan for the Kurau River to control flooding had been prepared since the beginning of the year.

Retno, a resident of Kurau Village, hopes that the government will dredge deposits in the Kurau River and build dams and embankments.

"To do total normalization, not only dredging the river flow, but revitalization is carried out towards the mouth of the river," he said.

According to him, dredging of deposits and the construction of dams and embankments will reduce the risk of flooding due to the overflow of the Kurau River.
