KUPANG - Acting Mayor of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province canceled the selection process for the candidate for the Director of the Tirta Lontar Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM). This cancellation follows that those who pass the selection are not from public service and business educational backgrounds. "We have canceled the selection process that has been carried out because the candidate who is selected is not based on public service education or is closely related to business business management," said Acting Mayor of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Province, George Melkianus Hadjo in Kupang, Antara, Monday, October 31. He said this was related to the continuation of the selection process for PDAM Director Tirta Lontar, Kupang City. According to him, in the selection of candidates for PDAM Director Tirta Lontar which was carried out some time ago, applicants were followed by educational backgrounds that were not in accordance with PDAM's business development needs. Prospective directors who pass the selection have a background for undergraduate education, religion, teacher, marine and fisheries. "How can a religious scholar manage PDAM business activities, especially educational scholars, certainly can't manage PDAM businesses properly," he said. PDAM business management can run successfully if it is led by someone who has an educational background according to PDAM's business goals. He said the re-selection process would soon be carried out so that PDAM candidate director Tirta Lontar had an educational background as needed in PDAM business development, for example, an education on business management. The Kupang City Government wants the business management of PDAM Tirta Lontar to be managed professionally so that the business business development carried out will develop rapidly because it is led by a director who understands public service affairs and business businesses. "If PDAM is led by a Director with a religious or teacher educational background, it is certainly irrelevant, even the PDAM effort does not develop," he said.
